Elisabeth Ligonnet Lam
Elisabeth Ligonnet Lam (b. 1998) is a franco-vietnamese multidisciplinary artist living between Paris and New York. She will soon hold a BFA in Drama from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Since 2016, Elisabeth has performed and directed for theatre and film in New York as well as in her home city, Paris. Her most recent work is with the Compagnie Ereme, for which she has been an associate director since 2018. Her work with them focuses on the intersection of forms, a political re-defining of intimacy as well as an exploration of marginal and subliminal spaces. Through her professional and personal experiences, Elisabeth found a passion for analog photography and videography. What started as candid documentation eventually tipped into bigger projects of (self) exploration. This is the first time her photography is being shown.
These photos were taken between 2017 and 2020. Like diary entries, they are an ode to the environments that I move through and the people who inhabit them. They all display personal, specific events or scenes of my life. They are all powered by nostalgia, whimsical storytelling and introspection. I believe that the personal is historical. These photos are my rendition of bigger events and therefore, my own history.
